Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Mock Draft: A Christmas List
By Ryan Heckman
At pick no. 45, and with their first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, I have the Bears selecting quarterback Jalen Hurts out of Oklahoma. What Lincoln Riley did with Hurts this year was nothing short of incredible.
After some adversity and losing his job at Alabama, Hurts bounced back in a big way and finished the 2019 season as a Heisman finalist. It was by far his best year in college, as he finished with career bests in passing yards (3,634), passing touchdowns (32), yards per attempt (11.8), rushing yards (1,255), and rushing touchdowns (18).
Those are some pretty gaudy numbers, and Hurts’ game would have huge potential in Chicago. Hurts is a winner, through and through. His positives outweigh the negatives, without a doubt. The fact that he is a fantastic leader and has always fought back after a mistake or adversity should speak volumes. This kid knows how to win football games and lead a team. He’d be a phenomenal pick, and although he might need to sit behind Mitchell Trubisky for a year, that could serve him well.
Not to mention, that would push Trubisky as well.
Other names on the list at pick no. 45:
Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin
Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue
Austin Jackson, OL, USC
Alex Leatherwood, OL, Alabama
A.J. Terrell, CB, Clemson
