player. OG. 11. 2016, Round 2, 56th overall. Cody Whitehair. 57. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Another offensive lineman, Cody Whitehair was originally a left guard in college before the Bears decided to convert him to a center during his rookie season. Whitehair would prove to be one of the draft picks the Bears immediately hit on.

He’s never once missed a game and has rarely been called for penalties. However, the best thing about Whitehair is the fact that he’s developed a relationship with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky that rarely gets talked about. What was most interesting about Whitehair is the fact that in 2017, he ended up playing center, left guard, and right guard on the Bears offensive line.

Just before the start of the 2019 season, the Bears opted to award Whitehair with a massive extension, giving him $27.5 million dollars in guaranteed money, which is one the largest amounts of guaranteed money for a guard in NFL history.

As of right now, Whitehair is one of two players on the Bears roster that is under contract well into the 2020s. His current contract runs out in 2024 and by that time, he’ll be 33 years old. Everytime that Whitehair takes the field, it’s clear that he’s one of the Bears best offensive lineman and was basically a steal in the second-round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
