Bears vs. Chiefs: Three biggest disappointments in tough loss
The Chicago Bears got destroyed in primetime as they lost 26-3 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. After a season of disappointments, there were even more during Sunday’s game.
The Chicago Bears may have been playing for pride on Sunday night, but if they were it didn’t show. Despite their playoff hopes ending in week 15, there were a lot of players with something to prove on Sunday. Maybe they didn’t get the memo.
The Bears welcomed the Kansas City Chiefs to Soldier Field on Sunday night, and many analysts were focused on the team’s quarterbacks. On the Kansas City sideline is one of the best QBs in the league in Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes was drafted 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, the same year the Bears selected quarterback Mitch Trubisky after trading up to the 2nd overall pick. It’s been something that’s haunted Bears fans since, and the difference in play was clear on Sunday.
The Chiefs offense torched the Bears, while Trubisky and the Bears offense struggled mightily and put up only three points. Kansas City’s defense has improved over the past few weeks, but not even reaching the endzone against them is inexcusable.
There’s one game left in this disappointing Bears season. It would’ve been nice for the Bears to build on a solid Sunday night performance and end the season at 9-7 after a win in Minnesota.
The best this team can do now is 8-8. For a team that was a Super Bowl favorite before the season, it’s a tough pill to swallow.
The three biggest disappointments of this Chiefs loss are three members of the Bears that have let fans down all season.
There are many issues with this team, but if they can get back on the right track next season who knows where they’ll end up? If that’s going to happen, these three Bears need to step up.
