Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has taken a lot of heat during the 2019 NFL season. Most of it was from his own fans, and that needs to stop in 2020.

Mitchell Trubisky started off rough in 2019. The Chicago Bears opening up against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football was good for Trubisky. The Packers’ defense shut him down and ruined his confidence. It took him two games to get it back.

Once Trubisky got his confidence back the first time, he threw three touchdowns on Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins. After that week, he played the Minnesota Vikings and got hurt in the first series. Nagy was upset for Trubisky because he was finally getting things in order. The team was 3-1 and looked ready for a solid push to the playoffs once Trubisky got back.

When Trubisky got back from his throwing shoulder injury, something seemed off. The team dropped games against the Saints, Chargers and the Eagles. After those three bad games, Trubisky started to get his act together.

People forget he was playing with a torn labrum. He was forced to wear a shoulder harness which limits movement for the shoulder. The rough few weeks felt like months because of how unfair fans were towards Trubisky. The media wasn’t that kind to the 25-year-old quarterback either.

People have to remember, he is only 25. Trubisky is in his third season and he is getting compared to the wrong guys. Instead of comparing him to Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, fans should compare him to his statical twin, Jared Goff.

This season, both Goff and Trubisky have lost six games, thrown 17 touchdowns, and have had moments of struggle. Trubisky’s best game was against a solid Dallas defense where he scored four passing touchdowns. Goff’s best game was against the Buccaneers where he lost and only threw two passing touchdowns.

Trubisky is the more athletic quarterback who can make guys miss and extend plays better. Goff has a better arm but they’re both so similar.

The two quarterbacks have similar stories. They both got drafted to terrible offensive teams with really good defenses. Goff plays with Aaron Donald, Trubisky plays with Khalil Mack. Both players have young offensive head coaches that have gotten a lot out of their quarterbacks.

People forget how Mahomes went to a really good Kansas City Chiefs team. They already had weapons in place for Mahomes. Mahomes also had Andy Reid. Reid and Mahomes had a whole season to work together while he sat the bench and waited for his turn to play.

Watson was in a similar situation. He was drafted by the Houston Texans, who were a quarterback away for success. Both Mahomes and Watson fit right in on solid offenses, they also have both have the same head coach that drafted them. Trubisky didn’t have that luxury.

In his rookie season, Trubisky’s top targets were Josh Bellamy and Tanner Gentry. Halfway through the season, he got Dontrelle Inman to work with. That didn’t pan out though. Trubisky threw seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in his rookie year. He went 4-8 as a starter on a Bears team that went 3-13 the season before.

Goff had the same situation. The difference was, he threw five touchdowns to seven interceptions and was 0-7 in his rookie season. Goff and Trubisky play similar, were put in the same situation, and have had the same amount of pressure. To start their careers, they had aging head coaches that were simply out of touch with offensive football.

John Fox wasn’t going to help Trubisky become a star. Jeff Fisher wasn’t going to make Goff a star. Both players came into a mess and have found their way into some success.

Now yes, I am not blind. Trubisky misses some key throws he has to make, but remember, he is playing with a torn shoulder. As the shoulder has healed, he’s gotten better. I love him for Chicago because he has a strong work ethic, doesn’t let the media bring him down, and has a short memory when it comes to turning the ball over.

A healthy Trubisky will give the Bears a winning season, nine times out of 10. If Nagy and Trubisky use their strengths to get better, this team will be back in the playoffs in 2020. In the offseason, Trubisky needs to work with Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, and other receivers on their chemistry. If Trubisky can build a strong connection with all of his receivers, 2020 will be exciting.

From Week 1, the team will need to use a moving pocket and use Trubisky’s strengths. In this year’s offseason, working on Trubisky’s weaknesses needs to be the top priority. The Bears do not need to draft a quarterback in 2020. They need to add linemen and find a tight end not named Trey Burton.

The people who say the Bears need another quarterback aren’t seeing the bigger picture. People are comparing him to the wrong guys. No one is giving him time, they’re expecting Mahomes and Watson right away.

Trubisky has a lot of potential still and can still become an elite quarterback. So no Chicago, there won’t be another quarterback drafted. No Jalen Hurts, no anyone. The team will need to fix the offensive line, the tight end spot, and add a big, strong running back.

Give Trubisky one more season before you write him off. The jury is still out on him. There’s a lot of positive things he brings to the table. So next time, don’t look at PFF’s ratings and trash Trubisky. Watch his film after the game. During the game, fan’s emotions are at an all-time high. Taking a look after games and breaking down his play will give you a better look at Trubisky.

Next. Bears: The 2020 schedule is out- here are early predictions. dark

In 2020, there will be a better Trubisky. So Chicago, start loving this guy because he will be here for a long time if next year pans out. The little things need to be fixed in the offseason, the rest will find work out because the great ones find a way.
