5. Nagy’s relationship with Trubisky

Mitchell Trubisky has a special talent that not many like him do. He has a good arm, is very athletic, and can take the heat from the city of Chicago. Not many quarterbacks could survive the Chicago media.

What people have to first see is this, Trubisky is 25 and has a long way to go. He wasn’t the most NFL ready quarterback in the draft. I truly believe he will be great. He just needs to build a better relationship with Coach Nagy.

Coach Nagy has held Trubisky back for little to no reason. For the last few months, I’ve gotten this feeling that they don’t see eye-to-eye. Neither one of them will go out and say it but there has been some trust lost. Trubisky doesn’t trust Nagy.

You can see it with their body language towards each other. The final nail in the coffin for me was when Trubisky was pulled from the L.A. Rams game. Nagy claims Trubisky had an injured hip but his face told a different story.

In the press conference after the game, Trubisky was upset and broken. That is where you could tell Nagy and Trubisky don’t see eye-to-eye anymore. Things have gotten a little bit better since then but how long will it last?

In 2020, they have to find a way to rebuild their relationship. 2019 was a learning experience and they need to figure out how to get out of this together. Trubisky is a coachable player that is continuing to learn as he goes. Nagy is a young coach who doesn’t know it all. They need to put that together somehow and become better.

I think both guys can get their act together in the offseason. I hope Nagy and Trubisky can stay on the same page and win in Chicago. 2020 is a fresh start and with this defense, anything is possible.
