Bears: Burning questions about the Kansas City Chiefs
By Usayd Koshul
7. Although he isn’t consistent, Mitchell Trubisky can quickly light it up at any given moment. What is the Chiefs plan on defense to ensure that he doesn’t?
Oleszczak: The Chiefs have to force Trubisky to throw. He’s a skilled runner/scrambler and that can be dangerous territory for KC. If they can prevent Trubisky from escaping the pocket, then they should be able to make sure he doesn’t have a big game.
Takeaway: The goal here for Kansas City will clearly be to stop Trubisky much like the Green Bay Packers did in week one. If a team can take away Trubisky’s mobility, they force him to become a one-dimensional quarterback that will struggle to get any kind of passing game going for the entire offense. The Chiefs have a defensive line that includes guys like Frank Clark, Chris Jones, Emmanuel Ogbah, and Alex Okafor. Together, this group has combined for a total of 23.5 sacks in 2019. While this may not seem like an astronomical number it is certainly something that is worth taking into account due to the fact that the Chiefs defense could also be a major difference-maker in this game.
It will be up to both Matt Nagy and Mitch Trubisky to figure out a way to ensure that the Bears can move the ball consistently and figure out a way to continue to scheme open receivers.
