The Chicago Blackhawks aren’t a very well ran team but their superstar right-wing named Patrick Kane continues to save the day for a lot of people.

The Chicago Blackhawks are so lucky that they have Patrick Kane to keep saving themselves. There were some smart people out there that believed if the losing streaks continued they would make a change at one of GM or coach, if not both. They can’t ever beat the Colorado Avalanche but in two of their last three games, Kane made them look like a somewhat competent hockey team. He had a hat trick at home against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday and then followed it up with a special performance against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

He had three primary assists and a goal in a 4-1 win over the Jets. The Jets are one of the really good teams in the Western Conference and it showed as they put 37 shots on Robin Lehner. The goalie played well and Kane did what he did and it led to the Blackhawks win. They are still near the bottom of the Western Conference and it would need a magical run to climb out of it but two of these last three games have been dominant performances by Kane to lead his team to victory.  If Kane can keep this up to some degree, they could continue to climb up in the standings.

This is the recipe that Stan Bowman has set up for his team. They have a roster that can only win by them skating up and down the ice with their opponent trading chances. They need both of their goalies to play well because they are going to face a barrage on just about every night. They also need them to bury their chances at a high clip in order for this strategy to work. This is why Jeremy Colliton might not deserve to be fired right now because he didn’t build this team. The team needs to play to their strengths right now and they did that against the Jets.

Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, they now have to get on a plane and head to Denver to play the Colorado Avalanche yet again. The Avalanche has owned the Hawks this year on the back of their best player Nathan MacKinnon. This is going to be a fun Saturday night hockey game from a hockey fan perspective but it is a very difficult test for Chicago. They are going to need their goalie to make the tough saves and the offense to bury some of their chances. Life is easier when Patrick Kane is putting up three or four points a game. We’ll see if he can continue to stay hot.
