The Chicago Bears are not going to the playoffs so their game against the Kansas City Chiefs is not much fun at all for the team or for the fans.

The Chicago Bears are about to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Not only is it a tough matchup for the Bears, but the entire country gets to see it televised on Sunday Night Football on NBC. That is a lose-lose situation for fans of the Chicago Bears. This season has not gone even close to how we thought it would. They are 7-7 and have been eliminated from postseason contention with two weeks left in the season.

This is going to be a tough game to watch for a variety of reasons. The first one is the obvious one and that is the quarterback matchup. Mitchell Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes will always be linked whether they like it or not. The Bears traded up from pick three to pick two in the 2017 NHL draft to select Trubisky with the pick. The Kansas City Chiefs made a trade with the Buffalo Bills to move up to pick ten in the same draft where they took Mahomes.

Mahomes has developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. You can even make a valid argument that he is the definitive best quarterback in the NFL. The Bears will always be criticized for taking Trubisky and not taking Mahomes or even Deshaun Watson who ended up with the Houston Texans. This will for sure be a storyline during the entire game which will get really annoying for the Bears real quick.

The next thing is the coaches. Matt Nagy was an Andy Reid understudy in Kansas City before taking the Chicago job. It looked in 2018 like he was learning how to become an elite coach like Reid but he has taken a major step back in 2019. That will surely be brought up a bunch throughout the game as well. The Chiefs have everything the Bears want and more right now. This is a game that could get real ugly for the Bears if they don’t play their game to their strengths.

Even if the Bears do somehow pull off a win, it would be bittersweet. They don’t have a first-round draft pick so tanking does them no good. The thing is if they win everyone will wonder where a performance like that was all season long. It would take a top-flight performance in order to defeat them and for them to do it in a meaningless game would be annoying in a lot of ways. Win or lose, this is bound to be an annoying game in the eyes of the Chicago Bears.
