With the Chicago Bears holding two selections in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, there are some controversial picks Ryan Pace could make.

The season isn’t even over yet, but plenty of Chicago Bears fans are already trying to play armchair GM and fix this team. If you check social media, most of us fans are looking towards next year at this point. We’re talking more about next year’s offseason than the last two games of this season.

That’s what we do best, though, right? Most of us have been through far more losing seasons than winning seasons as Bears fans. It’s part of our DNA. Once the season is effectively over, it’s time to start looking towards next year.

With that said, the Bears may have more issues and questions with this roster than they have had in the last few years. Although it is a talented roster with several excellent players in place, general manager Ryan Pace has some work to do.

When free agency starts in mid-March of 2020, hopefully some of the obvious needs are met. Chicago needs to revamp their offensive line in a big way, starting at guard. Replacing Kyle Long is a big priority this coming offseason.

Other needs include finding a competent, dynamic tight end to add to this offense. Trey Burton hasn’t been a guy you can count on, and most fans are hoping the team finally gives up on Adam Shaheen.

Still, the Bears need to add talent at cornerback and edge rusher as well. Most would assume Prince Amukamara is in his last year with the Bears and who knows if the team will commit long-term to Leonard Floyd (spoiler alert: probably not).

Following free agency is, of course, the 2020 NFL Draft. This year’s college crop is a fun one, with a lot of great players whom the Bears could find in the second round, where they will make their first selection.

The Bears have two picks in the second round this coming draft, and while everyone thinks they know what positions the Bears should go after, I am here to throw two controversial picks out there for you to digest. These would not be popular picks, but they would be potentially franchise-changing. Let’s begin.
