Bears: Allen Robinson snubbed from 2020 Pro Bowl
The Chicago Bears have had a nightmare of a season based on how good they were expected to be, but Allen Robinson had a Pro Bowl worthy year.
The Chicago Bears sit at 7-7 after having Super Bowl or bust expectations going into the season. It can be considered a nightmare of a season just based on that alone. There are teams in a much worse spot than them but it was not a good year at all. The defense was really good but the offense was not. One of the few bright spots of the offseason was a wide receiver, Allen Robinson.
The Pro Bowl selections came out on Tuesday night and three Bears made it. Khalil Mack, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Eddie Jackson. Those three guys had solid years but Allen Robinson was arguably the best player on the Bears in 2019. He is the definition of a Pro Bowl snub. If any Bear deserved to be representing them in the Pro Bowl game, it would be Robinson.
So far he has played in all 14 games for the Bears. He has 83 receptions on the season for 1,023 yards. He also has seven touchdowns on the year. These are numbers that should absolutely get him into the Pro Bowl. It is even more impressive when you think about how bad the Bears offensive line and quarterback situation have been this season. He was still able to make all of these plays and give the Bears offense a little bit of life at times.
It makes sense that a guy like Julio Jones would make it from the NFC. He has over 1100 yards and six touchdowns on a bad Atlanta Falcons team. The same can be said for Mike Evans who has developed into an elite receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans has eight touchdowns and 1157 yards. The less recognizable name on there is Chris Godwin. He might have the best case out of everyone as he has 1333 yards and nine touchdowns. Another guy with just as good of a case to be a Pro Bowler is Michael Thomas. He has an astonishing 1552 yards and eight touchdowns. Allen Robinson definitely deserves to make it, but you will have a hard time finding a guy to take out for him.
It definitely wasn’t an ideal year for the Chicago Bears but it was no fault of Robinson’s. If he comes back next year and is able to do this on a really good Bears team, he might finally get the recognition he deserves.
The guy has had Blake Bortles and Mitchell Trubisky throwing him footballs in his career and he has still developed into an elite receiver in the NFL. He is definitely a 2019 Pro Bowl snub and deserves to be there.
