Chicago Bulls: Jim Boylen must be fired after loss to Thunder
By Ryan Heckman
It was yet another double-digit lead squandered by the Chicago Bulls, and no one seems to be taking ownership.
These Chicago Bulls have given up countless double-digit leads this season already, but Monday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder may have been the worst one yet.
At one point during the second quarter on Monday night, the Bulls led by a score of 55-29. Fast forward to the fourth quarter, and veteran point guard Chris Paul caught fire. The Thunder had been chipping away at the Bulls’ lead, and Paul’s 19-point fourth quarter was just enough for Oklahoma City to take the lead and end up winning the game.
Chicago tied it late in the fourth, but Steven Adams put the Thunder in front for the last time with a free throw.
After every loss this year, it’s been the same story from Boylen. He will continue to hammer the fact that he’s trying to build a toughness within the group. He will talk about his guys battled. He will say he’s proud of them and that they made some mistakes.
It is the exact same story — over and over again. This was a couple of weeks ago, but it’s very indicative of how this year has gone for Boylen.
After Monday’s loss to the Thunder where the Bulls gave up a 26-point lead, John Paxson didn’t exactly give us any hope that Boylen would be held accountable. He should certainly be held accountable, but with this front office, I wouldn’t hold your breath.
Does it sound like Boylen will be fired any time soon? You tell me:
"“It’s very easy to point a finger at Coach or something like that, and I’m not going to convince anyone of anything else, and I’m never going to try.’’ -John Paxson (via Chicago Sun Times)"
Paxson continues to cover for his head coach, at whatever expense necessary. It is downright pathetic, and this fan base should be completely appalled, embarrassed and sick to their stomach.
Until big changes happen within this organization — meaning Gar Forman, as well — the Bulls will always be a joke. Forman, Paxson and Boylen have to go. But, Boylen should be the first domino. There is no question. Fans are sick and tired of this charade.
End it now, Mr. Reinsdorf. The fans deserve better. The players deserve better. We all deserve better.
