The Chicago Blackhawks are in a bad way so they need to make a big change somewhere otherwise this is going to end up being another wasted season.

The Chicago Blackhawks are a terrible hockey team. It is a real shame that it has come to this but they are not good. They have lost three straight games now after losing to the Arizona Coyotes 5-2 on Thursday night. They are 3-5-2 in their last ten games which is not going to get it done. The last place in the Central Division is where they sit without much hope of being able to come out of it. They are in serious danger of this being another wasted season.

They allowed the Coyotes to walk all over them. They outshot Chicago 40-30 and controlled the pace of play for most of the game. Chicago simply doesn’t have what it takes to win games more than they lose games. That is a problem that has been created by management but it is now up the players to do something about it.

The goaltending has largely been good this year between Corey Crawford and Robin Lehner so you can’t blame that. You can mostly just blame it on a roster that doesn’t have enough depth to win games, especially if there are a few injuries. They are without Duncan Keith and Calvin de Haan due to injury. That has tested their depth on the back end and it just isn’t there. They are a weak organization outside of their top players so that is the major problem.

This game was a complete mess in all three zones for pretty much the entire game and someone should be paying the price for it. It doesn’t matter if it is a coach, player, or someone in the management department but something needs to change in the Blackhawks organization. They cannot accept wasting another season of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews‘ prime but that is what is happening for the third straight year.

The Blackhawks have a big weekend coming up and it starts with the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues. They are on the road in St. Louis to play them and then they come home for a back to back game against the Minnesota Wild. Both teams have been playing really well and will give the Blackhawks a fit if they play as they did against the Coyotes on Thursday.
