Blackhawks: Adam Boqvist has been called up again ahead of Vegas
The Chicago Blackhawks have called up their top defensive prospect as the team heads into the desert to play the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Chicago Blackhawks have called up both Adam Boqvist and Matthew Highmore from the Rockford Ice Hogs. Andrew Shaw has been placed on long term injured reserve as a result and that is retroactive to November 30th. This move comes ahead of a very interesting tilt with the Vegas Golden Knights at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Blackhawks need a big win in this game to keep pace with the rest of the Western Conference bubble teams.
The Blackhawks and Vegas historically have some really fun matches but the Hawks have come up short in every game except one. Vegas came into the league and was an elite team right away while the Hawks have been on the decline so it sort of makes sense but they would love to get a big win in this one.
Chicago has taken five out of its last six points and they played some talented teams over that stretch. If they can get the goaltending from Corey Crawford and Robin Lehner that they did along with some great play from their top guns they should get some results here. Vegas is a strong team that uses it’s elite top-six forward group to its advantage. Those six players can all score but what makes them special is that they are so good in their own end as well.
Lehner got the start in Chicago against the Arizona Coyotes and was awesome. This means that Corey Crawford should be getting the start here in Vegas. Both goalies give the team a chance to win so it is a good thing to have two guys who can switch off. Marc-Andre Fleury is back from dealing with a loss in the family. He is still also one of the elite goalies in the National Hockey League so the Blackhawks will have to create high danger chances and get traffic in front of him in order to win. This should be a very entertaining game for fans of both teams as they both need a win really bad here.
