Another option for the Chicago Bulls if they decided to move on from Jim Boylen could be Mark Jackson. Jackson, like Jeff Van Gundy, could be had now and could be a long-term option for the Bulls going forward.

Jackson was the coach of the Golden State Warriors from 2011 to 2014. He has not been able to land a coach since. His previous player, Andre Iguodala believes Jackson has been blackballed by the NBA. Rumors are that his aggressive religious views may be the cause, but Iguodala would not confirm that fact.

If the Bulls can get over the possible off the court issues, maybe Jackson could be their guy. Jackson went 121-109 with the Warriors. He was 9-10 in the postseason. He is considered a “players coach” who is great at motivating and getting the most out of his players. He is known for inspiring players to focus on defense, even if the player is only known for his offense.

The downfall of Jackson seems to be his play calling. He struggles to write up successful plays consistently and will be a little bullheaded when it comes to his approach. That said, he only coached for four years. Jackson deserves the chance to prove himself. He deserves the opportunity to learn and grow from his mistakes. The Bulls could be the team to give him that chance.
