The Chicago Bears could be in for a huge boost if Akiem Hicks comes back this week as rumored.

The Chicago Bears have, dare I say, been on a little bit of a roll and the good news may continue as the team could get Akiem Hicks back to practice as early as this week.

Now granted it is only a two-game win streak, but Mitchell Trubisky looked much improved the last two weeks against the New York Giants and Detroit Lions.

In fact, Mitch had by far his best game of the season against the Lions, throwing for 338 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also orchestrated a beautiful 90-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter which ultimately proved to be the game-winner.

The team will look to take that momentum into a critical matchup against the Dallas Cowboys this week. In reality, at 6-6 and staring up at multiple teams in the Wild Card race, every game for the Bears is critical, but the Cowboys game represents the first in the last quarter of the season which by far will be their toughest stretch of the year.

The Cowboys, admittedly, are a bit of a mess right now, but they still have one of the best running backs in the league in Ezekiel Elliot, and a pretty dangerous wide receiver corps starting with Amari Cooper. Therefore, the Bears D will welcome all the help it can get, and that help could in the form of a big morale boost via Hicks.

Hicks, who has been on IR since he dislocated his elbow against the Oakland Raiders in Week 5 isn’t eligible to return until Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers. However, having him back at practice could be another shot in the arm for this team looking to do the unthinkable and run the table all the way to a playoff berth.

If they can get by a Cowboys team in a tailspin at home, it would get Hicks back for an enormous game against Aaron Rodgers and company. In what will be an incredibly difficult task, having Hicks on the field in Lambeau might be just what Khalil Mack needs to get a few more one on one matchups.

The emotional boost he would provide, along with how he would instantly improve all aspects of the defense, could be just what the doctor ordered for the Bears to sneak out of Labeau with a win, and return to Soldier Field with all the momentum in the world.

dark. Next. Bears win was all on Trubisky

The team must continue to take one game at a time, but if you’re a fan, and you believe in season-defining moments, this could potentially be one of them.
