Bears: 3 Thanksgiving predictions for Mitchell Trubisky and Chicago
By Ryan Fedrau
Just like last season, the Chicago Bears head into Thanksgiving day to play the Detroit Lions. Mitchell Trubisky and his team are looking to execute early.
The Chicago Bears are 5-6 going into this must-win game against the LIons. They are still alive for a playoff spot with CBS Sports giving them a 2.8% chance. Those numbers aren’t in the Bears’ favor. This week will be one of the most important weeks of the season.
The second wildcard spot is taken by the 8-3 Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are playing the red-hot Seattle Seahawks in a game they should lose. If the Bears win and the Vikings lose, the Bears are only two games out of the playoffs with four to go.
Prediction One: Monster’s of Turkey Day
The Bears’ defense has been given a gift. The Lions third-string quarterback David Blough will be starting the game. The Monsters of the Midway haven’t been consistently getting to the quarterback like they did last season.
This game is a confidence booster. The defense will go off, create turnovers, and get to Blough. I am prediction three sacks and at least one defensive score.
Prediction Two: Turkey (Day) Mitch
The nickname Mitchell Trubisky was given early on in his career was “Money Mitch.” He hasn’t been “Money” this season but it’s never too late to start. Trubisky’s last performance against the Lions matched season-high three passing-touchdowns for him.
Against the New York Giants, Trubisky threw a touchdown and ran one in. Expect Trubisky to throw for three again but add a rushing touchdown in the mix. Instead of Money Mitch, if he has a big game today, call him “Turkey Day Mitch.”
Prediction Three: Beating the spread
The betting odds for the game have the Bears favored by 6 (-120) points. The Bears’ defense has been given an offensive gift from the Lions. The ‘Monsters of Turkey Day’ are going to dominate on defense giving the offense great field position all game. Expect the Bears to beat the spread and win by seven points or more.
Even though this season has been a rough one, it’s not over yet. Trubisky’s start against the Giants saved his starting job for one more week. Hopefully, Trubisky and the Bears stay on track and keep pushing for the playoffs.
The game starts at 11:30 AM CT. Happy Thanksgiving, Chicago.
