Blackhawks: Three trade partners for Erik Gustafsson
Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers were expected to waste another year of the best player in the world, Connor McDavid, as experts predicted where they were going to land. Add in another top 20 player in Leon Draisaitl and it would have been really sad to see them have a tough year as a team. All hockey fans should want to see this team in the playoffs so McDavid and Draisaitl do their thing on the big stage. It is important for the best players to be in the dance and Edmonton has some of those players.

They currently sit atop the Pacific Division. They have been a pleasant surprise in the first quarter of the season and they now believe they have what it takes to make it to the playoffs. Erik Gustaffson would be a great addition to the Oilers. He would probably jump in and be on their top power-play unit that has McDavid and Drasaitl on it. They are currently the league’s two leading scorers and if they added Gustaffson to that mix they might be even more dangerous.
The Oilers have some young prospects and draft picks in the cupboard that they could send over to Chicago for Gustafsson and both teams could be getting exactly what they need. They wouldn’t be using him in a top-pair role like he mostly has with the Blackhawks. Gustafsson has a chance to be a really solid offensive defenseman in the league but an opportunity like this would really propel him.
