Blackhawks snap the incredible Dallas Stars winning streak
The Chicago Blackhawks used their home-ice advantage to snap the big winning streak of the Dallas Stars and they can feel good about it.
Corey Crawford and the Chicago Blackhawks shutout the Dallas Stars in the second matchup between these two teams in the last four days. The Dallas Stars were a little unlucky as they had to play the Vegas Golden Knights in between the two games while the Blackhawks were fresh and waiting for them back in Chicago. Dallas clearly didn’t have their legs in the entire game and that hampered them a little bit.
Patrick Kane has been sensational since the Blackhawks made a playstyle change. He scored a power-play goal to extend his point streak to thirteen games. He is on an incredible run and there is no doubt that if the Blackhawks get into the playoffs that he will be in the conversation for the Hart Trophy. Kane is the leader of this team as far as offense and the team will go as he goes. This is a remarkable run that he is on and he is no stranger to streaks like this.
The Dallas Stars saw their seven-game winning streak snapped in their loss to the Blackhawks. Eight straight wins would have been a franchise-record but they weren’t able to pull it off. This was a good measuring stick for the Blackhawks as Dallas is one of the elite teams in the National Hockey League. They should be considered one of the favorites in the Western Conference as of right now.
Both goaltenders played outstanding in this game. Ben Bishop was given the night off as he played last night against Vegas. Anton Khudobin got the start for the stars and he made 35 saves on 37 shots. Chicago’s third goal was an empty netter. Crawford made a 32 save shutout to give the Blackhawks the win.
The Blackhawks are officially on Thanksgiving break. They are off for the next two days as they play the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. Things do not get any easier from here as Colorado is also one of the elite teams in the West. This is a big test for the Hawks and a Black Friday win would go a long way for this team.
They need to continue to rack up points against elite teams. That is the key to the Blackhawks making it to the playoffs. They have a roster that is good enough to do it and they are finally playing a game that fits said roster. This is a big stretch coming up for them and they need to keep winning.
