Blackhawks: Playing the Dallas Stars again is less than ideal
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to get on a streak to maintain their status as a bubble team but playing the Dallas Stars again is a tough task.
The Chicago Blackhawks are going to play the Dallas Stars for the second game in a row. This time, it will be at the United Center. Dallas got an extra game stuck in there against the Vegas Golden Knights in Dallas where they earned a victory. Dallas won the first game these two teams played in a shootout in a game that both teams played very well and had some good goaltending performances. Robin Lehner and Anton Khudobin each stole the show and kept the best players on each team from making an impact during actual play.
The shootout was a different story as Lehner gave up goals to Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin while Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were stopped by Khudobin. This time around, Corey Crawford should get the start against Khudobin. Khudobin will likely start because Ben Bishop was in net in last night’s win over Vegas. There is a chance that this presents a similar performance but both teams are likely to score a little more simply based on odds. Each team is loaded with top offensive talent so it could go either way.
The Stars are the hottest team in the NHL as they have won seven in a row and are 9-0-1. After starting the season off terribly they have climbed all the way up to being in second place in the Central Division. There is no doubt that this Stars team is going to be considered a Stanley Cup contender by the time the season is over.
The Blackhawks have played well over their last few games but only have one point out of their last possible six. Those spells are going to happen but it is encouraging that they have played well in these games despite not getting the results every time. It is going to be a grind to get points all season long but they have the talent to do it. If they want to get into the playoffs they are going to have to get the results against these elite teams sometimes and this is a great test.
Dallas and Chicago present a great matchup for the viewer because of the talent on each roster. Each team has some of the best forwards in the game, some defensemen who can make plays, and two good goalies apiece. Hopefully, the Blackhawks can get the same level of play in this game and turn the result around.
