With their fifth win of the season, the Chicago Bears finally got some much-needed production from their wide receivers.

After a much-needed win on Sunday against the New York Giants at home, the Chicago Bears were finally able to have wide receivers other than Allen Robinson step up and make plays. While Robinson once again stole the show with six receptions 131 yards and a touchdown, another player who stepped up and had four receptions on one drive was Anthony Miller.

Miller, a second-year wide receiver, who finished with six receptions for 77 yards had no touchdowns but was still one of the Bears’ best players all afternoon. Over the last two games, Miller has had 12 receptions in total, proving that he’s ready to build off of a successful rookie campaign.

As the page now turns to the playing the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day, both Robinson and Miller will have a chance to build off their solid performances as they’ll face another weak secondary.

However, if there’s one wide receiver that was quiet all afternoon on Sunday, it was the veteran Taylor Gabriel, who had just one reception for 19 yards and three targets. While Sunday could be labeled as an off-day for Gabriel, he’ll need to rebound against the Lions due to the fact that he’s been a key piece of the Bears offense.

Overall, the Bears offense in 2019 has been such a mess, all of the blame seems to go to the quarterback however, dropped passes by wide receivers have been a theme all year. In other words, dropped passes have been a major reason that the Bears offense has been so bad in 2019.

With just 5 games remaining in 2019, key players like Miller need to finish strong in order to have an opportunity to make a case for being a starter in 2020. The Bears are preparing for an offseason of roster turnover and wide receiver is one position on offense that could see some people not return.

As of right now, Robinson and Miller will return, while Gabriel can be cut to save just over $4 million dollars in cap space. Additionally, what the Bears decide to do with wide receivers the rest of the season will be important to monitor since younger players like Javon Wims and Riley Ridley are searching for more opportunities.
