Bears: 5 bold options for Chicago’s quarterback room in 2020
By Ryan Heckman
Tandem No. 1: Mitchell Trubisky and Tua Tagovailoa
One of the things football fans will be talking about up until the night of the 2020 NFL Draft is where exactly Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will end up going. After what looked to be a catastrophic injury this past Saturday, Tagovailoa has now undergone surgery and doctors say they expect him to make a full recovery.

But, where does that put him in terms of pre-draft workouts and the NFL Combine? If he is unable to show out before the draft (which is likely), teams may be taking more of a chance on him than they realize.
Still, Tagovailoa could end up being a first-round pick — wouldn’t that be impressive for the kid?
If the Bears wanted to grab him, they would then have to trade both of their second-round picks to move up into the first, seeing as their first-rounder belongs to the Oakland Raiders.
It sounds like a pipe dream, but that’s why these are bold options. If Ryan Pace is serious about changing things up and fixing the quarterback position, Tagovailoa would surely get fans’ attention.
With the Alabama product coming in, they would obviously hold competition between he and Trubisky over the summer months. There’s no doubt that any competition would be great for Trubisky, especially if the Bears end up declining his fifth-year option. A little fire underneath Trubisky would be a positive thing.
