Next year, the Chicago Bears could have a bunch of options for their quarterback room.

The fact that we are already thinking seriously about a new franchise quarterback at this point during the 2019 NFL season says a lot about the state of the Chicago Bears. What was supposed to be a continuation of a surprisingly strong season a year ago has turned into a surprising misfortune for Bears fans.

We can talk all day long about the issues in Chicago. Head coach Matt Nagy has failed to live up to his so-called “offensive genius” tag he was given by many. Play-calling is all over the place this year, and some of the most basic situations have been overcomplicated by the second-year coach.

The defense has been decent, but they’ve also been tired. Chicago’s offense has been unable to sustain drives more often than not. One negative standout is Khalil Mack, who has not been anywhere close to the dominant force he was in 2018; collecting just one sack over his last six games.

The common opinion amongst most Bears fans, though, is the fact that quarterback play has seemingly regressed. Mitchell Trubisky has taken a gigantic step back in 2019, and for whatever reason, still cannot go through all of his progressions and find the open receiver on many occasions.

With the Bears potentially waving goodbye to Trubisky after 2020 by declining his fifth-year option, general manager Ryan Pace should be out to find his next starting quarterback. Between free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft, Pace has some options. But, he’s on the hot seat. He’ll likely need to get bold.

The following are just a few tandems we could see in the Bears’ quarterback room next year, with each option being bold for its own reason.
