The Chicago Bears might be looking for a new quarterback so could the Alabama superstar be an option if he falls in the 2020 NFL Draft?

Mitchell Trubisky has had a disaster of a season for the Chicago Bears and that might mean that they move on from him over the offseason. He has taken a step back this year after leading the Bears to a 12-4 2018 season and NFC North Division title. It is something that we really don’t like to see because he really had a chance to be the guy in this city but it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen.

There is a good chance that they bring in a veteran like Cam Newton or someone along those lines, but they also might be wise to draft a quarterback from college. They do not have a first-round pick thanks to the Khalil Mack trade but they do have two second-round picks. Drafting top recruit Tua Tagovailoa out of the University of Alabama looked like a sure shot to be the number one overall pick or top three at the bare minimum.

Tua has suffered a serious right hip injury over the weekend in a game against Mississippi State on Saturday. He had a successful surgery not long after and he will miss the remainder of the season. Alabama lost a big game to LSU the week prior so that was a major hit to their chances at making it to the College Football Playoff. It is looking even slimmer now that Tua will not be on the field.

So that immediately begs the question of how it will impact his future NFL career? There still might be a team that takes the risk on him high in the first round and that would pretty much make it impossible for him to fall to the Bears. If the injury somehow scared every team away in the first round then the Bears would be foolish not to take a chance on him.

There is also the possibility of them packaging their two second-round picks into a trade for a first-round pick if they decided that they really wanted Tua. It is still a long shot despite the injury but it definitely is a bigger possibility than it was a week ago. The Bears need to look at all angles when it comes to evaluating what to do for next year. It would be true negligence to let this go on for another year. The rest of the roster has flaws but they still should be better than 4-6. Everything in the NFL starts and ends with a quarterback and Tua Tagovailoa might make some team really happy in the not so distant future.
