Bears: Beating the Rams would go a long way for Chicago

The Chicago Bears are in a deep hole but the season isn’t over and a big Sunday night win would go a long way for their confidence.

The Chicago Bears have been a team that has completely fallen short of expectations this year. They are in a big hole in the standings but they are not completely out of it. At 4-5, a couple of things could go their way and they could turn this thing around. The thing is, it starts and ends with this Sunday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Like the Bears, the Rams have been a bit of a disappointment and at 5-5, this is a must-win game for them as well.

Both Los Angeles and Chicago are suffering from a few injuries and subpar play from their quarterbacks. Each team was elite in 2018 and has taken a step back in 2019. Whoever plays better between Mitchell Trubisky and Jared Goff could very well be the winner of the game. There is no doubt that each team is relying on their guy to get the job done. This is a rematch of one of the most entertaining defensive battles of 2018 and it should definitely be an entertaining game.

The Rams are the best team the Bears are going to play over the next month. This win would be their second in a row and could propel a large winning streak if they chose to play up to their potential. They follow this game with a home game against the 2-8 Giants, then play the 3-5-1 Lions on Thanksgiving, followed by a home matchup with the 5-4 Dallas Cowboys. If they can somehow win all of those games they would be going into a huge matchup with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

There is only a small chance but there is a chance. The Bears had the expectations that they had for a reason, they just haven’t lived up to it. Hopefully, the Bears defensive line can take advantage of the weak offensive line that the Rams are going to put on the field and make life hard for Goff. The Bears haven’t been good on the O-line at all this year but the Rams have been even worse. That could mean that Khalil Mack breaks out in this game and has one of those contests where he changes the game. If Goff is forced to have a pedestrian day while the offense scores some points, this could end up being a big win for the Bears.

It is a Sunday Night Football on NBC game for Chicago and Los Angeles, much like it was on December 9th, 2018. That game did not disappoint and this game shouldn’t either. If the Bears play their game they could very well win and that could propel them to a special finish. It might be a longshot, but it is okay to dream.
