Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Midseason Edition

6. Round Six, Pick, 173: OT Mekhi Becton, Louisville
Picking an offensive tackle does seem kind of odd for the Bears considering the fact that Charles Leno Jr. is under contract until 2021 while Bobby Massie is under contract until 2022. However, the Bears could move on from either of them before their contracts officially expire and save a substantial amount of money. That’s where Mekhi Becton comes into the picture.
Becton is someone that has the makings of being a future starter for any NFL team. His measurables (six-foot-seven, 369 pounds) are certainly encouraging and are just more reasons to be intrigued by his NFL potential.
Two things that are needed to be a successful NFL offensive tackle are long arms and good feet. Becton possesses the first quality as defenders are rarely able to get around him. An added advantage of his long arms is that he’s able to help teams in the run game by creating big holes and locking defensive lineman up.
Then there’s Becton’s feet, which allow him to get to the second level with ease and take on linebackers with ease. Overall, Becton is a player to watch considering he excels in a lot of areas that should allow him to transition to the next level with ease.
