Cubs Third Basemen Kris Bryant

Since entering the league in 2015, Kris Bryant has been one of the leagues’ top third basemen.

He has quite the resume so far, to say the least.

  • 2015 NL Rookie Of The Year (151 games played, 26 home runs, 99 runs batted in, and .275 batting average)
  • 2016 NL Most Valuable Player (155 games played, 39 home runs, 102 runs batted in, and .292 batting average)
  • 3 all-star game appearances (2015,2016,2019)
  • World Series champion (2016)

The Cubs are paying Bryant a total of $18.5 million this year and he will be a free agent after the 2021 season.

Look, I can see why cubs fans don’t want him traded, but it’ll help in the long run. If they trade him now before he’s a free agent, they can acquire a couple of pieces. Also, if they trade him, they can reallocate his salary to other free agents needed to improve the team.

Maybe sign a guy like Mike Moustakas to take over third base if they do end up trading Bryant?

The Cubs need a lot of help to fix this team and make it back to the postseason, so trading Bryant could help them acquire the future of this team.
