Robin Lehner and Corey Crawford have been nothing but amazing so far this year for the Chicago Blackhawks

After the 2018 season, the Chicago Blackhawks were looking to add another goaltender since Corey Crawford had been dealing with concussions for the last two years.

Heading into the offseason, Blackhawks’ fans including myself had no idea how they’d address a much-needed position.

We thought maybe they wouldn’t even address the position and just stick with Crawford and Colin Delia all year after Cam Ward decided to retire.

However, that’s not what happened. As free agency began, one goalie who stood out was Robin Lehner. He was coming off his best year in the NHL, and he finished top three in the Vezina Trophy voting. But based on his season last year, Stan Bowman and the Blackhawks thought it’d take a lot of money to pursue him and bring him to Chicago.

The Blackhawks and Bowman swooped in and surprised a lot of fans by signing him to a one-year contract worth about $5 million dollars.

Before the season even started, Blackhawks fans were questioning who would be the starting goaltender and who would be the backup. Heading into the first game of the season, Jeremy Colliton decided to start Crawford instead of the newly acquired Lehner.

After two straight starts to start this season for Crawford, Colliton finally thought it was time to see Lehner in net. So far in the first 17 games of the season, I could sit here and tell you that both Lehner and Crawford have been one of the best duos in the NHL.

So how do the two compare to one another? I take a deeper look below.
