The Chicago Bears lost to the Philadelphia Eagles just secures the fact that the season is a nightmare and one of the biggest disappointments.

The Chicago Bears went into the season with Super Bowl level expectations. The season got off to a bumpy start with their loss to the Green Bay Packers on the NFL’s opening night. Things really haven’t gotten much better as their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles cements the 2019 season as a complete nightmare. They are now 3-5 and have little to no chance to make the playoffs. Not being in the last place in the NFC North division is starting to look like it would take a miracle at this point.

There are a plethora of reasons that this season has gone the way that it has but the biggest reason has been the offense. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has taken major steps back after being pretty good in 2018. The playcalling hasn’t really helped him but he is not the guy who can lead a team to the Super Bowl, let alone win it. In order to win the Super Bowl, they would have needed him to at least be average and he hasn’t even been that. Calling him bad might be an understatement.

The defense hasn’t been quite the same but they are hardly the unit to blame. They are on the field way more than they should be and they look fatigued and tired in almost all situations. They deal with the offense giving them little to nothing and they can’t win games on their own. This game had a chance for them to break out but the miserable play by the offense made holding the Eagles to 22 points not good enough.

They are now 3-5 going into a week 10 matchup with the division rival Detroit Lions. It would be nice to see some improvement against them but it is starting not to matter anymore. It appears that Mitch is a bust and we are now questioning whether or not  Matt Nagy is the guy going forward. The way the rest of the season goes is going to be super interesting to watch because they have no identity. It is likely that there are going to be major changes because the way this season has gone with this roster is unacceptable. This is one of the most disappointing teams in Chicago history and that may be an understatement.

There is no sign that they are going to right the ship in 2019 so the staff needs to start evaluating what they have and do something about it. There are so many different issues to blame but the inept offense is the number one reason and nothing seems to be getting done about it. This is a disgrace of a season.
