Step 3: Keep hope alive to the very end

It ain’t over ’til the fat lady sings, right?

Look, as bad as he has been, it is not wrong for fans to hold out hope that Trubisky could turn it around. The common narrative I see fans using is the old, “Every player develops at a different pace.”

That can be true in many cases. Now, do I see that holding true for Trubisky? Quite honestly, I do not. But, there is always a chance he turns things around and kicks his development into another gear.

Will that happen in a Bears uniform, though? That’s the big-time question. If he doesn’t improve this season, the Bears will be forced to bring in some competition for Trubisky in his fourth year. At that point, you’ll get the sense that Ryan Pace is finally ready to admit he was wrong.

Until that moment happens, however, there is no reason why you can’t hold out hope. There is nothing wrong with supporting Trubisky while recognizing his play has been below average.

For the sake of this team and his teammates, I hope Trubisky somehow turns it around. He is incredibly likable and possesses fantastic leadership qualities. He has a lot to like about him, and that’s the honest truth. His play on the field, though, needs to catch up to those attributes — and quickly.
