Step 1: Face Reality

Remember back when you were a kid, and you got into silly little arguments about why your dad could beat up your friend’s dad?

This isn’t one of those arguments. It’s not some ridiculous, child-like debate.

More from Da Windy City

Here are the facts:

  • Trubisky ranks 34th out of all quarterbacks in passing yards per game (182.0)
  • Trubisky ranks 21st out of all quarterbacks (minimum one start) in completion percentage (64.6)
  • Trubisky has thrown just five touchdowns in (we’ll call it) five games, with three coming in one game against Washington
  • His rating of 81.4 is lower than 37 other quarterbacks who have thrown a pass this year

Those are basic facts; nothing too spectacularly researched. I know that.

The most disheartening facts, though, come when looking at him post-snap. Trubisky is hardly going through his progressions. He’s missing wide-open throws — see: Taylor Gabriel streaking down field against the Chargers, which would have sealed the win.

He’s hardly ran the ball this season. He looks more uncomfortable than he did in 2018.

Forget the issues with play calling, offensive line, etc. Every quarterback goes through that once in a while. The fact of the matter is: Trubisky has not only regressed, but has been plain, old bad. End of conversation.
