Blackhawks: Chicago in a bad spot after loss to the Predators
The Chicago Blackhawks are in a bad way after losing to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night and something has to change because they’re bad right now.
The Chicago Blackhawks thought it would be a good idea to bench Brent Seabrook for a second straight game simply because they wanted to return a winning lineup even though it was a terrible Los Angeles Kings team they beat at home. Now, there are some guys in the dressing room that are mad about it and they have no life in their game and look defeated. Things are bad as they lost to the Nashville Predators 3-0. It was a pathetic effort once again and they are shooting themselves in the foot.
There is no way Seabrook isn’t one of the best six defensemen on the team. It isn’t saying much because the unit as a whole is horrible but he deserves to be in the lineup. The coach needs to be held accountable for this decision making and the lack of effort by the team as a whole. They were outshot 51-20 in the game which is absolutely pathetic. The fact that Robin Lehner only let up three goals is an absolute miracle. Yes, Nashville is a much better team on paper but this display was horrible.
They are not getting what they need from their top guys and Seabrook is clearly annoyed with the decision making and thinks he can bring something to the table for someone else if not for the Blackhawks. Things are as bad as ever for the Blackhawks in recent memory and this team is better on paper than it was a year ago but they’re playing worse.
Someone needs to be held accountable if this all continues. There is miscommunication, bad effort, and underperforming players and that is why they have the record that they do. The only positive that came from the game is the penalty kill, which went a solid 5/5 and allowed no power-play goals. Lehner played well based on the circumstances and that’s really about where the positives end. Scoring goals is supposed to be their bread and butter and they were shut out again. This needs to change or something drastic needs to happen.
They are now headed where they will do the always tough California road trip. That trip isn’t as hard as it once was but the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks will all be ready for the Blackhawks and try to keep them down. They all play a rough brand of hockey and the Blackhawks are going to need to be ready to compete.
