Worst performance #2: QB Mitch Trubisky

It’s becoming tiring to continue to write about how badly quarterback Mitch Trubisky is playing. Yet, here we are again.

Trubisky started off the game well enough, marching the team down the field on their second drive of the game before they stalled in the red zone. This led to the short missed field goal by Pineiro.

As the game went on, the red zone inefficiency continued.

This game made it clear that Nagy has very little trust in Trubisky. After the quarterback threw a slant behind wide receiver Allen Robinson at the Chargers nine-yard line in the second quarter, Nagy elected to run the ball and settle for a field goal.

The Bears had five trips to the red zone in this game and turned just one of them into a touchdown. That’s not good enough, especially against a team that was 2-5 heading into this game and dealt a number of injuries on defense.

Trubisky continues to miss open receivers on potential touchdown throws. This week it was wideout Taylor Gabriel who was streaking down the field after beating a linebacker in coverage. Trubisky didn’t even get the ball close to Gabriel.

Nagy and the Bears aren’t giving up on Trubisky this year. While the quarterback made some improvements from last week’s debacle, he still didn’t throw a touchdown and had two turnovers at critical points in the game.
