Chicago Bears: 3 trade rumors that will not come true
By Ryan Heckman
Rolling the dice on Philip Rivers, Melvin Gordon
First off, I don’t quite know where the rumor came from. But, I’ve seen several fans chatting about whether or not the Bears should take a shot on Philip Rivers. No disrespect to the veteran, but there is no chance of this happening.
I love Rivers’ game and think he’s been criminally underrated for the majority of his career. But, there is zero chance he would up and move his entire family (which is about 28 kids, I believe) from sunny California to a place like Chicago.
Rivers is staying put; no questions about it.
The second Los Angeles Chargers player I’ve seen mentioned in rumors, though, is a bit more intriguing. Who wouldn’t want a talent like Melvin Gordon on their roster?
Gordon makes a ton of sense for a team like the Lions, and quite frankly, I’d be upset if they got him. He’s a tremendous back who is amidst a season in which he’s trying to get paid. Filling in for the injured Kerryon Johnson could help his cause, and hurt the Bears in the meantime.
But, again, the Bears do not need a running back. There should be no talks between the Bears and Chargers regarding either Rivers or Gordon. It ain’t happening.
