The Chicago Bears have struggled on offense this season. The problem has lied with Bears’ quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who isn’t the blame for everything. This week against the Chargers could change everything for the better on offense.

Mitchell Trubisky has struggled this season with only throwing five touchdowns for 839 passing yards. His running game has not been a factor at all. He seems like a crippled quarterback that has been shut down by lack of belief out of his coach, Matt Nagy. If the Chicago Bears want to right this wrong, something has to change fast.

The lack of a run game from the Bears doesn’t help a struggling quarterback. The Jordan Howard trade was a bad decision. Howard would pound the ball down defense’s throats, which in return opened up room for Tarik Cohen to get yards running. Trubisky, just like many quarterbacks, needs a running game to be more successful.

Mike Davis has been completely quiet and not used, that was a waste of a trade. David Montgomery either doesn’t have what it takes to be a top back in the league right now or is just not being used. The “Matt Nagy Offense” has to be dual-threat like it was last year. The season isn’t over yet, find a way to run the football and open up the passing lanes for Trubisky. He needs to build up confidence again, establishing a running game again can help lead him in the right direction.

This week the Bears play the struggling Los Angeles Chargers. Both of these teams look very similar. They both were a surprise success story last year after an awful 2017 season and now have taken a back seat with a terrible start to this season.

The Bears’ running game has a chance to gain confidence again. The Chargers average giving up 117 rushing yards a game, 22nd in the NFL. The Bears need to start running the football this week. If they can successfully run the football, it’ll open up the passing game for Trubisky. Trubisky has a perfect chance this week to get confidence back in himself.

The Chargers cannot run the football. They are a one-dimensional offense, which will help the Bears’ defensive game plan. The defense needs to gain confidence again, if they can shut down Phillip Rivers early in the game, this can be a blowout win for the Bears.

The running game needs to be used by the Bears. Matt Nagy told us that he wasn’t an idiot. Even I know they have three running backs that can be used in many trick formations and the yards needed to take the pressure off of Trubisky. The Bears are going to have to rebuild Trubisky’s confidence, it could happen in this game. Just please Coach, open up the running game again. Seven rushing plays won’t cut it in Chicago.

If the offense can get their running game back on track, it’s a perfect time to then start spreading the ball out to the many options the Bears have. Trubisky can make the big throws, he just needs time and confidence. His accuracy has been a big problem this year. Trubisky needs to get his feet set and has to calm down before throwing the ball and putting the offense in a hole.

Next. Bears: Matt Nagy is not an idiot. dark

If the Bears can keep defenses guessing again, they should have no problem giving Trubisky time to throw. If they can give him time to throw the ball, he can have time to set his feet again and become Money Mitch again.
