The Chicago Blackhawks are back in action when one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference comes West to play at the United Center.

There is going to be some hockey played in Chicago on a football Sunday as the Chicago Blackhawks welcome the Washington Capitals to the United Center tonight. These two teams met twice in the preseason and even then they provided some entertainment for fans of both sides. Whenever these two teams have met over the last decade and a half there has been no shortage of skill.

Icing players like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Alexander Ovechkin, and Nicklas Backstrom amongst others is definitely a must-see TV show for sports fans. These players have all won the Stanley Cup and most of them have won individual trophies as well. This is a game that whoever defends better should come out on top as they each have all of the prolific offensive talents.

The Blackhawks have a bit of excitement in the air as they have recalled their third overall pick in Kirby Dach from his conditioning loan to the Rockford Ice Hogs. He is a highly skilled and big centerman that the Blackhawks are hoping becomes a part of their core long term. He would be one of three third overall picks in the lineup (Jonathan Toews and Dylan Strome) and with that much talent down the middle it is always an advantage. If he were to make his NHL debut against the Capitals, it would certainly make for an exciting evening.

The Blackhawks used Robin Lehner in their Friday night victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets so it is fair to assume that Corey Crawford will get this game against Washington. With the greatest goal scorer of all time in Ovechkin, and two dynamic playmakers in Backstrom and Evgeni Kuznetsov in the lineup, Crawford and the defense are going to want to make sure that they are on their A-game.

The Capitals also played on Friday and defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 at home. They went with their long-time started and Vezina Trophy winner Braden Holtby in that game, so it will be interesting to see if they roll with him again or go to their rookie backup Ilya Samsonov in this one. Either way, the Blackhawks are going to see a really good goalie and need to shoot often, get traffic, and make nice plays. This should be a fun one for fans of both teams.
