The Chicago Blackhawks earned a gutsy win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on the back of their captain who is finally on the board.

The Chicago Blackhawks got a win for the second game in a row following their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. They did it in come from behind fashion as Alex DeBrincat tied the game in the third period with a power-play goal. Then Jonathan Toews won the game in overtime to give Chicago Blackhawks their second win of the season. It was a hard-fought win against a Columbus team trying to prove themselves with the odds stacked against them.

Patrick Kane continued his blistering start to the season by adding two assists in the game on the tying and winning goal. His play with Toews in overtime was truly special and they continue to be a dynamic duo in clutch situations. Kane is on track to have another point per game season and possibly could elevate the Blackhawks to an overachieving season.

Drake Caggiula also got on the board in this game. That is important because the Blackhawks are going to need some depth forwards to contribute in order for them to win more games this season. They cant rely on Toews, Kane, and DeBrincat to score all their goals otherwise they are going to find themselves on the wrong side of the playoff line for the third year in a row.

Jonathan Toews’ overtime goal elevated him even higher on the list of most overtime goals in Blackhawks history. That was his 13th overtime goal and that put him five overtime goals ahead of Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, and Patrick Kane who have eight in their careers. It is certainly an elite group and all of them are major pieces in team history. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come for the captain and the team as a whole.

After the game was over, the Blackhawks recalled Kirby Dach from his conditioning loan to the Rockford Ice Hogs. It will be interesting to see what the decision is made with him going forward but there is a good chance that he is given the opportunity to make his NHL debut over the next week. It will certainly be a fun stretch to see if the Blackhawks can keep the good play going. They are back in action on Sunday night when the Washington Capitals come to town which should be a very challenging game but a display of insane talent on both sides.
