The Chicago Blackhawks are giving one of their very important players in history “One More Shift” and it is a great recognition.

The Chicago Blackhawks have something so special in their “One More Shift” celebrations. They do this when they bring back a former player in full gear to skate the United Center ice before a Blackhawks home game. You can tell it is a special moment for those who live it and those who watch it. There are going to be lots of players coming up as some of the guys from the dynasty years begin to move on from their pro careers.

The next in line for this honor is Dave Bolland. He will do this with the Blackhawks on Friday night before the Blackhawks take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Bolland is a very special player in Blackhawks’ history. Bolland won the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2010 and 2013 and was a great role player in each year he was a member of the team. He was never the superstar on the squad but he accepted his role and executed it to perfection.

Bolland will forever be the most known for scoring the Stanley Cup-winning goal in 2013. The goal came 17 seconds after Bryan Bickell tied the game. It was one of the most exciting sequences in Blackhawks’ history and a moment fans of the team won’t soon forget.  He deserves credit for being such a good player despite being in the role he was. Without players like Bolland being committed to the team and to winning, they would have never won a single championship.

Bolland played 332 regular-season games with Chicago where he had 70 goals and 98 assists for 168 points. He was also a +33 in his career in a depth role. The Blackhawks drafted Bolland in the second round, 32nd overall, in the 2004 NHL draft. He then played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers briefly after his tenure with the Blackhawks. He only ever appeared in the postseason as a member of the Blackhawks where he had 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points in 67 games.

Bolland is well-deserving of this honor and one he will never forget. The Blackhawks will be looking to get their second win of the season following the ceremony with a desperate Columbus Blue Jackets team come to town. It should be a special night all around for Blackhawks fans.
