Chicago Bears: 4 big names on trade block to avoid
By Ryan Heckman
A.J. Green, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals
Look, a healthy A.J. Green would be a scary addition to this Bears offense. Just thinking about it seems like a great idea at first. But, the problem on offense isn’t the lack of weapons. Green is one of the best wideouts in the league when healthy, but he’s not going to address the main issue on offense.
We’ve already established the fact that Chicago has an offensive line problem. It’s an issue with all but one starter up front, quite honestly. Long has been putrid. Daniels and Whitehair do not look comfortable at their new positions. Charles Leno has been the most penalized offensive lineman in the league through five weeks.
Green, when healthy, gives his team a downfield threat that can match up with the best cornerbacks in the game. His size, speed, footwork and catch radius have always made him a lethal weapon.
The fact of the matter is, though, Green hasn’t played a full, healthy season in years. He hasn’t been a guy you can count on to make it through a season.
Taking the Bears’ obvious needs on the offensive line away from the conversation, Green isn’t worth considering strictly based on his inability to stay healthy. I’ve always been a big fan of his, and feel bad for the guy, quite frankly. But, health has not been on his side for a while now.
