1. Grant Calcaterra, Oklahoma

Considered to be one of the most interesting tight ends in the 2020 NFL Draft,  Grant Calcaterra could be the first or second tight end off the board. As of right now, projections for Grant seem to point to him being a late first-round pick or an early second-rounder.

However, regardless of where he’s drafted, the Bears should be keeping an eye on Calcaterra for multiple reasons. In Matt Nagy’s offense, the tight ends need to be able to catch the football and also be an effective blocker.

Calcaterra’s two biggest assets are his hands and his ability to operate in the slot. Throughout his college career, he’s consistently been able to operate from the slot and has proven that he can be an effective red zone weapon for any offense.

In three seasons at Oklahoma, Calcaterra has 40 receptions for 618 yards, averaging 15.5 yards per reception. Those numbers may not stick out to some, however, he has proven to be a reliable option in Oklahoma’s offense.

With the college football season approaching the halfway point. Calcaterra is one name that the Beas need to heavily monitor. If he continues to build off what he’s already done, he may just skyrocket up draft boards which could force the Bears to potentially trade up for him in April.
