Chicago Bulls unveil Jordan era throwback pinstripe uniforms
One of the best uniforms in sports history is making a nostalgic comeback as the Chicago Bulls release their Statement Edition jerseys.
Ladies and gentleman, get your wallets out. The perfect gift for any hardcore Chicago sports fan will be hitting shelves just in time for holiday season. In a year where other teams like the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies will be showcasing historic throwback jerseys, the Chicago Bulls will be bringing back their legendary black pinstripe jerseys.
Immortalized in the ’90s where franchise legends Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman (just to name a few) donned the black and red threads, these jerseys became the infamous mark of a team storming their way to six championships in a single decade.
Much like everything else Jordan touched, these jerseys were elevated past being a simple fashion choice. Similar to the timeless Jordan Air Force 1, the black pinstripe jerseys transcended their status as a plain basketball jersey and became something more of a iconic status symbol. Everyone wanted to Be Like Mike, so that all started with dressing like Mike.
Rest assured, the Bulls were eager to play up the nostalgia factor when making this announcement.
These jerseys will be worn on six separate nights during the 2019-20 NBA season, all during home games. They will debut on November 22 when the Chicago Bulls take on Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat. We only regret not ever getting the chance to see Butler rock the pinstripes.
Games against the Warriors, Nets, Suns and Pacers (twice) round out these jersey’s tour dates at the United Center. For the full schedule and information on how to purchase one, you can find them on the Bulls’ official website here.
Chicago Bulls guard Shaq Harrison got to celebrate his birthday in style, as he and other players try on the new jerseys for the first time.

As some of you may have noticed, these pinstripes appear to be primarily white with a glossy texture. This comes in stark contrast to the classic red pinstripes from the ’90s. While a jersey that remained 100 percent true to the source material may have ultimately been a better decision, this uniform still brings enough to the table to get excited about.
And you know, maybe it’s for the best. After all, it remains to be seen if a team coming off a very disappointing 22 win season even deserves to wear the pinstripes. At the very least this remastered version still honors the Bulls squad that made many Chicago fall in love with the sport of basketball without tarnishing their legacy and accomplishments. It’s a win-win situation here, and great jerseys are great for everybody.
