Chicago Blackhawks: Can’t get a win against Flyers in Prague
The Chicago Blackhawks got their regular seasons started off in Prague and things didn’t necessarily go the way that they had hoped.
The Chicago Blackhawks are going into this season with mixed expectations. They got off to a rough start as they were defeated by the Philadelphia Flyers by a final score of 4-3. The game was played as a part of the 2019 NHL Global Series in Prague, Czech Republic. It was a great event for fans around the world and especially in Czech, but the Blackhawks couldn’t grab the two points.
Some good news was that they saw Alexander Nylander score his first goal of the season and first as a Chicago Blackhawk. It was pretty cool to see him get on the board early. Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane also scored goals for Chicago in the loss. They are going to need all of these guys to continue scoring if they are going to have a good season.
It is obviously only one game and no reason to panic yet, but they need to fix the penalty kill. They were dead last in the National Hockey League last season and that just simply can’t happen again. If it does or anything close to it, they will not be a playoff team. They are not deep enough to overcome being that bad short-handed. They didn’t really get off to a great start as the Flyers got a power-play goal from Oscar Lindblom in the second period. They can’t be giving up power-play goals every time they play or they won’t last long in the standings. The Flyers man advantage was one for three on the day.
The Flyers controlled the puck way too much for comfort if you are a Blackhawks fan. Obviously, there is rust and this is the first game of the season so hopefully, they can figure it out and be much better in their next time out. They are back in action next Thursday when they come home to Chicago to play against the San Jose Sharks in their home opener. This is a good chance for the Blackhawks to be tested early in the season as San Jose is a good team yet again.

This wasn’t the worst game the Blackhawks have ever played but they are just going to need to be much better going forward. They have a whole lot of home cooking coming up to help them get on track for the season.
