Line 2

The Blackhawks should have a decent second line this season. In fact, it should be better than decent. There is potential there for it to be one of the best second lines in the National Hockey League. It is a young line that has a pair that could be a part of the Blackhawks core for a long time. They are old enough where they get to thrive while Toews and Kane are in their prime and they are young enough that they perhaps get the torched passed to them one day. Those players are Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome.

Strome will be the second-line center with DeBrincat on his wing. The real question is who is on the other wing with them? There is a chance that Kane gets some looks there this season if the coaching staff wants to separate him and Toews, but it may be wise to keep them together. The emergence of DeBrincat and Strome has allowed that to be a possibility.

There are a few intriguing options, but Andrew Shaw might be the most cut out to play on this line. Having some sandpaper on this line could help spread out the skill and give these guys a player who can win 50/50 battles to get them the puck. Andrew Shaw is also very good in front of the net with rebounds and tips and he is coming off a really good season offensively with the Montreal Canadiens. If this is, in fact, the line, it should provide some great scoring chances for the Hawks and be very productive.
