The Chicago Blackhawks are ready for their participation in the 2019 NHL Global Series as they close out the exhibition season and begin the regular season.

The Chicago Blackhawks took on the Boston Bruins in their final North American preseason game against an NHL team. They basically used the Rockford Ice Hogs starting lineup to play in this game while the big club traveled to Europe for the 2019 NHL Global Series. The Ice Hogs group lost to a fully loaded Bruins team in their version of a dress rehearsal. The Bruins look to be locked and loaded to defend their Eastern Conference crown as they routed the Blackhawks by a final score of 8-2.

Now the focus moves to Germany as the Blackhawks will close out the season against a German pro team called Eisbaren Berlin on Sunday. They will welcome in the Blackhawks in an effort to grow the game of hockey worldwide as an annual effort by the National Hockey League via the Global Series.  Local German fans will get to watch stars and champions in Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and Corey Crawford. They will also get to see their local team have a chance to go up against a real NHL team.

You might think that because the Blackhawks are icing their big boy squad against a team that doesn’t even play in the NHL that they are going to win big. That may be the case because of the talent disparity, but it is far from an absolute guarantee. Last season, it took the New Jersey Devils overtime to defeat the local Swiss team showing that these European pro teams have pride and want to have a good showing in front of their fans.

The same can be said for the Blackhawks. They are the NHL team and everyone on the team is going to want to impress some new fans with their play. Patrick Kane and friends coming to Germany is not something that happens often for the locals so it would be fun to see them playing well in this game.

This is the final chance for the Blackhawks players to get their game sharpened and some puck touches before the regular season begins. They will move from Germany to the Czech Republic to continue the Global Series in a regular-season game against the Philadelphia Flyers. This is the type of week that fans of all involved should always remember as it doesn’t happen often.
