Chicago Bears: Trubisky’s injury comes at terrible time
By Ryan Fedrau
Chicago Bears’ QB Mitchell Trubisky injured his left shoulder during the first drive of Sunday’s game vs the Minnesota Vikings.
Mitchell Trubisky injured his left shoulder during Sunday’s Chicago Bears game. This injury comes right after Trubisky’s huge break out game against the Washington Redskins just 6 days prior where he threw 3 passing touchdowns, 1 interception, and threw for 231 passing yards.
This hurts the Chicago Bears offense that was starting to catch their spark in the passing game because Mitchell Trubisky and Chase Daniel are two different players. Trubisky is mobile and has a better arm and Daniel is a pocket QB that can get rid of the ball fast.
Chase Daniel has a 1-1 record as the Bears’ starting QB with his one win coming on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions. Daniel has 3 passing touchdowns and 2 interceptions for 515 yards in 2 games last season. That isn’t bad, he knows how to run the offense so he is the Bears best bet right now.
The Chicago Bears can win games with Chase Daniel, he can keep them in the playoff hunt until Mitchell Trubisky gets back. The longer Mitchell Trubisky is out, the less chance he can dig the Bears out of a hole, if Chase Daniel doesn’t perform as well as he did last season when Trubisky was hurt.
Last season Mitchell Trubisky missed 2 games because of an injury to his right shoulder that happened during a game against the Minnesota Vikings where Trubisky finished the game in a Bears’ 25-20 win.
I personally think this is a big blow to the Bears’ offense. Mitchell Trubisky was starting to heat up and was driving the team down the field before the injury. Depending on how long the injury is, the Bears should look for another QB. Tyler Bray isn’t the ideal backup QB for Chase Daniel in my opinion. Look at Tom Savage, Eric Dungey, Chad Kelly, or Brock Osweiler to backup Chase Daniel, or maybe even start.
For the fans calling for Colin Kaepernick, that’s a big no for me and many other fans. He has too much baggage and is way too controversial to be a backup quarterback. He has been out of the league for 3 years now, it isn’t worth the gamble. He is a locker room divider and this team doesn’t need that.
Hopefully, this injury isn’t as serious as it seems and Mitchell Trubisky after the bye week to face the Saints. Both the Saints and the Bears are out their starting QB, that would be an interesting game. Chase Daniel against his old team, the New Orleans Saints.
If you missed the injury click here. It is gruesome so viewer digression is advised. An update will be provided as soon as more information is out. Hopefully it isn’t a long injury and Mitchell Trubisky can be back and healthy very soon.
