The Chicago Bears are facing off against the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday. If the team wants to come away with a victory they must do these things.

The Chicago Bears face off against the Vikings on Sunday. In every NFL game, there are always key matchups. Matchups that one team will try to exploit over the other. Coaches will look at their team’s strengths and find a way to use them against the opposing team’s defense. Unfortunately, not every team matches up well against their opponent.

If both teams excel on offense and both teams are awful on defense, well, we will usually see some type of shootout. If one team has a great passing attack, but the opponent has one of the best defensive backfields in the NFL, no one knows what will happen. However, it will be a fun battle to watch.

In their first two games this season, the Chicago Bears went up against the Packers and the Broncos. The Packers are shockingly third in the NFL defensive DVOA. For those of you who do not know what that is, defensive DVOA stands for Defense-adjusted Value Over Average. This is an analytics metric created by Football Outsiders that measures player and team performance. For more details check out the method to their madness here.

The Broncos are currently 23rd overall in defensive DVOA, but Vic Fangio knows the Bears team inside and out. He was not going to make anything easy for Matt Nagy’s offense. Finally, the Bears took on Washington last week. Their offense finally got things going against a team that is 27th in defensive DVOA and does not have Vic Fangio.

Fans and analysts are skeptical that the offense has turned a corner. What we need to remember though is that the offense is not the only part of this team. The defense is not regressing as many national media members and opposing fans thought. They will be a big key again in moving to 3-1 on the season.

Let us take a look though at how the Bears can put an end to this Vikings team and walk away with a victory.
