The Chicago Blackhawks have a preseason game with the Washington Capitals tonight and there are some notes and reasons to be excited about it as fans.

The Chicago Blackhawks are back in preseason action tonight as they welcome in the Washington Capitals as the exhibition season ends. This is the second and final time these two teams will play against each other this preseason. The Capitals defeated the Blackhawks on a Tom Wilson overtime goal on September 16th in Washington. The lineups are going to be drastically different for both sides in this one compared to the game a week ago.

You can expect to see a dangerous group of forwards when the Capitals take the ice. Stars like Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and T.J. Oshie. However, the blue line will be a rather young group for Washington in this one, as John Carlson is the only defenseman in the lineup who was with the Capitals all of last season. You will also see superstar goalie Braden Holtby in net for the Capitals. Washington is a year removed from winning the Stanley Cup and they have the roster to go for it again once the real campaign begins again.

It is unclear as of now exactly what the line combinations are going to be for the Blackhawks, but you can probably expect to see the notable names like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Duncan Keith in the lineup. They also might try some new things as far as combinations in this one based on how they handled the line rushes in Tuesday’s practice.

Robin Lehner left that practice with an injury. Head coach Jeremy Colliton claims it is not that serious, but you would think that means that he isn’t going to suit up for this game against the Capitals. They are likely going to dress Corey Crawford and Collin Delia in this game. There is some depth in the blue paint for this team, and hopefully, they can use it to their advantage. The preseason is almost over, but there are still some decisions to be made and this game might help them make some of them.
