Kris Dunn was a part of the Jimmy Butler trade that brought him and Zach LaVine to the Chicago Bulls. Dunn has yet to live up to his potential.

The Chicago Bulls are hoping that the 2019-2020 season turns out better than the 2018-2019 season. Last year, the Bulls struggled often. Things were so bad that they fired their head coach Fred Hoiberg after a 5-19 start. In steps Jim Boylen. The team followed up their poor start with a 17-41 record to finish off the year. Not spectacular, but an improvement.

The Bulls traded away Jimmy Butler, the closest thing to a superstar they have seen since when Derrick Rose was consistently healthy. In that trade, the Chicago Bulls received back Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and the number seven overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. That pick turned out to be Lauri Markkanen.

The complete overhaul of the team pointed in the direction of the Bulls attempting to rebuild. Without a true superstar though, the team was clearly going to struggle.

Over the last two seasons, the Bulls have won a combined 49 games. The team struggled with injuries, but they are lacking consistent guard play.

This offseason, the Bulls have changed up the guard position drastically outside of Kris Dunn. They brought in Tomas Satoransky. Satoransky was the backup in Washington. He filled in nicely when John Wall missed time last year and the Bulls obviously saw some potential.

The team also drafted a point guard in the first round this year. To most fans’, and likely the front office’s, disappointment, the team missed out on the first overall pick. Things got worse though. After failing to earn even a top-four pick, the Bulls were gifted with another seventh-round pick. With that pick, the Bulls selected Coby White out of North Carolina.

With the addition of the Satoransky and White, Dunn’s future with this team is up in the air. Could he end up still being traded? Will he play off the bench as the third option? Will he finally live up to his potential and start to excel, retaining the starting point guard spot? Let us take a look at what Dunn’s best and worse case scenarios are for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.
