3. Connor McDavid

We all know the Blackhawks are in a stacked division. There are seven teams that can all potentially make it to the playoffs as previously discussed. That puts them in a position that we call a “bubble team”. A team that could finish anywhere from 7th in the conference to 10th is normally considered a bubble team. The problem for the Blackhawks could also reside in the Pacific Division. There are three playoff locks in that division in the San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, and Calgary Flames. The rest of the division is either a bubble team or bad.

One of those teams that stands out above the rest is the Edmonton Oilers. They aren’t very deep at all but they are a bubble team because of the fact that they have the best player in the NHL, Connor McDavid. He is a guaranteed 100 plus points scorer as long as he stays healthy and as long as he is in the lineup, every team should be wary of what he can do to you. He also has a 50 goal/100 point scorer on his line in Leon Draisaitl.   This duo is deadly and if a lot of things go right for them, they could be a bubble team.

Every other bubble team, like the Blackhawks, should be worried about McDavid. He can make anyone’s life miserable on any given night. The Blackhawks are likely going to have a better season than the Oilers, but you just don’t know. They should scare everyone just because of their dynamic duo of McDavid and Draisaitl. The Arizona Coyotes and Vancouver Canucks are the other bubble teams in the Pacific Division along with the Oilers to be worried about in the Pacific Division. They all have a few game-breakers that can will them into the playoffs.

Overall, this should be a better season for Chicago but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to worry about. Most teams in the league have a few things to keep an eye on as they begin the season, because if you don’t then you won’t be prepared for these issues.
