Matchup #3: QB Mitch Trubisky vs. Redskins defense

The most pressing concern of many Bears fans this season is the performance of quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Bears coach Matt Nagy and others in the front office talked a big game about Trubisky’s improvements coming into this season.

Saying that those improvements haven’t shown up in either game this season is an understatement. The young quarterback looks like he may have even regressed from last year.

It’s apparent that Nagy doesn’t trust Trubisky to execute his pass-heavy style of offense which relies on speed and weapons all over the field. The speed and weapons are there for the Bears, it’s the quarterback who isn’t matching their level of play.

Trubisky threw for just 120 yards last week in Denver as the team ran the ball 29 times. It’s clearly not the type of offense Nagy likes to run.

It’s disappointing to see another underperforming Bears quarterback. Hopefully, Trubisky can get his level of play up as the season goes on. It’s not all on him in the sense that his offensive line and receivers can always do better, but he needs to show rapid improvement.

It should be a good test of Trubisky’s abilities this week against a Redskins defense that’s given up over 30 points in each of their first two games. If Trubisky can’t find a way to move the offense down the field on Monday night, it may be time to hit the panic button.
