Chicago Blackhawks: 15 greatest goal scorers in franchise history
Pit Martin was a long-time member of the Blackhawks. He was a member of the team for 11 years from 1967 to 1978. It was a great run for him, as he had 243 goals in 740 games for Chicago.
He chipped in 384 assists for a total of 627 points with the team. Martin is very deserving of his place as one of the best snipers in team history. He ranks 13th all-time in Blackhawks goals scored and would likely be higher if he played more than 740 total games with the team.
Martin also had stints with the Detroit Red Wings, the Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks. He scored 324 career goals in the NHL, so there is no doubt he was a great goal scorer during his time in the league and as a Blackhawks center. He won the Masterton Trophy for his efforts in the 1969-70 season.
Nine of his 11 years with the Blackhawks ended in the playoffs. He never got to win the Stanley Cup, but there is no doubt he was a winner. He scored 26 playoff goals in 80 playoff games.
19 of them came at even strength and seven of them were on the power play. So in the playoffs, he was a threat to score in all situations, which is always extremely important to building a winning team. He was a great scorer for the Blackhawks in both the regular season and the playoffs, which is one of the main reasons he is considered a great player in team history.
